Frontline Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP)

The Ministry of Health (MoH) through the Public Health Institute of Malawi (PHIM) in collaboration with the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) hereby invites applications from technical staff to participate in the second cohort of the Frontline Field Epidemiology Training Programme (FETP). The staff must be from the MoH or the Department of Animal Health & Livestock Development in the Ministry of Agriculture whose work involves disease surveillance and outbreak preparedness and response.

Support for fight against TB in Mining

Support for fight against TB in Mining

The World Bank is supporting the Regional TB in mining Project (part of the Africa Regional Communicable Disease Control and Preparedness Program), which aims at controlling and or eliminating priority communicable diseases on the continent. Malawi is one of the four participating countries in the project. The overarching goal of the project is to increase utilization of key TB control and occupational lung diseases services in Malawi and strengthen the sub-region’s capacity to address such conditions.

Health Activities

The Ministry has been implementing the following activities in the 2013/2014 financial year:

1. Implemented preventive and health promotional programmes on TB, Malaria, bilhazia control, immunization campaigns for diseases such as polio, measles, tetanus and pneumonia.

2. The Ministry conducted various disease surveillance activities throughout the country as well as health promotion activities by disseminating health promotional messages to communities.
