Quality Management Directorate
The Quality Management Directorate (QMD) was established in the Ministry of Health and Population in November 2016 to provide strategic leadership and coordinate quality management and improvement initiatives across the health sector.
The Directorate envisions a health care system that is responsive to the needs of all Malawians. Its goal is to contribute to improved health status, increased client satisfaction and financial risk protection towards the attainment of the country’s national development goals through provision of quality health services.
The Directorate has revised a National Quality Management Policy for the Health Sector and the Quality Management Strategic Plan 2017-2022 that provide strategic direction.
Following decentralization, some of the functions of the ministry were devolved to the district councils and Zonal Health Offices were abolished accordingly and rebranded to Quality Management Satellite Offices.
