Directorate for Reproductive Health was established in1997 in response to the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) held in Cairo, Egypt in 1994.

SHR TECHNICAL WORKING GROUPS

This body has a multi -sectoral membership which consists of government, and development partners, zonal officers, heads of agencies and senior representatives of training/academic institutions. It is mainly responsible for providing oversight on programme issues and policy dialogue, decision-making and monitoring progress in line with the comprehensive work plan.

TASK FORCES

Task Forces include the National Fistula task force and EMONC task forces which coordinate and provide guidance for fistula EmONC Assessment and programming in the country. All the above coordination structures have promoted dialogue, synergy and complementarity as well as quality assurance of policies and programme interventions in the country.

Brief introduction to Reproductive Health Services in Malawi

The core mandate of the Directorate is to coordinate the integration of Sexual and Reproductive Health Services (SRH) at all levels; develop SRH Policies, Strategy and Guidelines; guide implementation of SRH services as well as monitor and evaluate SRH services.

The directorate exists to promote through informed choice, safer reproductive health practices by men, women and young people, including increased use of high quality, accessible sexual and reproductive health rights and services

The goal of the RH Programme is to improve sexual & reproductive health for all men, women and young people in Malawi, especially the vulnerable and underserved.
