MALAWI GETS A SHOT IN THE ARM FROM HE REPUBLIC OF INDIA

The Minister of Health, Hon Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda MP, on Wednesday July 5th 20223, received a donation of 165 tonnes of medicines and medical supplies from the Republic of India worth over K2bn. The auspicious event took place at Ministry of Health Headquarters.

Speaking at the donation ceremony, the Minister of Health, Hon Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda MP expressed gratitude to the Republic and government of Indiia for the timely donation.

“This comes at a time when we are just recovering from the devastating effects of COVID-19, Cholera and Cyclone Freddy.”

In his remarks, the Indian High Commissioner to Malawi, His Excellency Mr Gopalachrishnan said,

“India and Malawi share decades-long cordial and friendly relationship.”

He said this was why the Government of India was making the donation which included supplies and medicines for various conditions including cancer.
